Hussain Sajwani is a billionaire with an eventful background. He is also very close to power as he is a close family friend of President Donald J. Trump. But how did he end up in such a mighty position?
Husain Sajwani has not always been a real estate developer. His first career was in the catering industry. He is the founder of a catering company that specialized in supplying food and drinks to American soldiers who were stationed in the Middle East in the late 90s and early 2000s.
His company also served construction companies, and this is probably where his interest in the real estate industry started.
Transition to Real Estate
Today Hussain Sajwani is one of the most accomplished real estate developers in the Middle East and specifically the UAE. He ventured into the industry in 2002 after realizing the opportunities in the industry. Back then, land was cheap and plenty in the UAE and most other countries in the Middle East.
He began by buying small swathes of land, building property, and selling them for a profit. Today, he has huge swathes of land and numerous properties in the UAE, Middle East, and internationally in the U.S. and Europe. His real estate company, DAMAC Properties, is one of the biggest in the Middle East. It is popular not only for its high-end property but also for the gifts that come with each sale, including flashy sports cars. The company works in partnership with real estate moguls the likes of Donald J. Trump.
However, Sajwani did not transition entirely to real estate as he still owns his catering company, which is still operational today.
Proximity to Power
Hussain Sajwani is popular for being President Donald J. Trumps close family friend. Their close relationship was forged through their common interest in real estate. However, their business ties eventually deepened into a friendship, and this spilled over to their individual families.
The two billionaires are such close friends that their wives and kids often visit each other. In fact, Sajwani was one of the few people who celebrated the New Year celebrations in the company of the president.
